Status: TBD, likely February 24, 2022
Supporting Pink Shirt Day, run by CKNW Kids’ Fund. Feat is TBD
Why the charity?
In Canada, 1 in 5 kids are affected by bullying, although I’m sure the number is even higher than that. So immediately, there is definitely a need for this. Moreover, the origin story of this is so great, starting in a small town in Nova Scotia. The charity runs vital anti-bullying programs with a massive reach.
At the end of the day, the wellbeing of the children in our country is paramount. Our future depends on it. Bullying can have all sorts of short-term as well as lasting impacts on individuals. We are significantly shaped by our time in school, and if that shaping is happening by bullies, we are not setting ourselves up for success.
Why the feat?
Well I don’t know what the feat will be other than wearing a pink shirt. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Canada recognizes the last Wednesday in February as Pink Shirt Day, even though the United Nations recognizes May 4 as Anti-Bullying Day. Regardless, unless the feat is not able to be done on the day, I will be doing this on February 24, 2022.
